Approval of the Minutes

The Minutes for the meetings and phone calls of 7/21, 7/28,
8/1 and 8/18, having been previously distributed and discussed, were approved. The Minutes for the meeting of 8/3, and the phone call of 8/11, having open issues, were deferred until the next meeting.

Legal Issues


The current draft of the proposed IETF Trust raises a number of disparate legal issues. After discussion, the IAOC consensus was that the draft needs and is ready for outside legal review. The IAOC will request this review from the IETF Counsel.

The IAD described to the IAOC the draft of a new engagement letter for the IETF Counsel with Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr. After discussion, the IAOC requested that the IAD seek further clarification of various issues from Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr, and revise the text of the engagement letter as necessary.

IAD Report

At the time of the call, the IAD was on travel as part of the site selection for IETF-65. He gave a review of the work in progress.

Trust

The IAOC discussed the remaining open issues with the current draft Agreement from CNRI for the proposed IETF Trust. The IAOC Chair requested that IAOC members provide feedback on those issues by the following Monday, so that she could prepare a summary for approval on the mailing list.

The meeting being out of time, the remaining agenda items were deferred until the next meeting.
